3D LED TV Advantages & Disadvantages
So how does a 3D LED TV compare with the alternative options? As far as the 3D experience, none of the technologies really offer an advantage over the other. A few things to look for however are 240 Hz TVs. The extra refresh rate will yield a better 3D picture because the current 3D approach is using an interlaced approach to screen refreshes. This means that the screen is rapidly displaying two slightly different images and a quicker refresh rate will make fast action scenes smoother and clearer. See how 3D TVs work for additional details. Another feature to look for is the ability to create 3D content. There is currently a limited availability of 3D programming therefore you may want to look for features such as Samsung’s 2D to 3D conversion feature that is available in their 3D TVs. Content that is converted from 2D will not be as good as true 3D content but until more is available this may be an appealing feature.
Looking at the cost, LED TVs tend to be more expensive than the other options, however they are also more energy efficient, therefore over the life of the TV you are likely to save money. The one exception to this is Laser TVs. If you are considering a large TV, over 65 inches, a Laser TV will be cheaper and also energy efficient.
If you are interested in hanging your TV on a wall, LED, LCD and Plasma are all options to consider, the Laser and DLP TVs will be thicker and are more suited for a stand. If you are interested in ultra thin TVs, LED is definitely worth considering.
