3D Ready TV

What exactly is a 3D ready TV? Which one is best? How does it work and what else will I need to watch 3D TV? Where can I find the best prices?

There is some confusion as to what a 3D ready TV really provides. This came about because some manufactures, like Mitsubishi, started producing TVs back in 2007 that are able to display 3D content with a Mitsubishi 3D adapter. These TVs are called 3D ready since they are not able to display 3D out of the box, but can with the adapter. However some of the new TVs from Panasonic, etc. are also called 3D ready but really do provide 3D right out of the box so when looking for a new TV look for 3D and 3D ready TV and consider them the same. If you have an existing Mitsubishi TV, you can use the model numbers at the bottom of this page to check if it is 3D ready.

How Does 3D TV Work
In order to understand what you will need to watch 3D TV in your home it helps to spend a few minutes to gain an understanding of how it works. See how does 3D TV work for a quick introduction.

In addition to the television, you will need 3D glasses and something to play the 3D content on. It can be a 3D Blu Ray player or Playstation 3. Also there are set top boxes becoming available since the Satellite and Cable TV providers are starting to offer 3D content. One last piece you will need is a HDMI version 1.4 cable. The older version 1.3 cables do not support 3D so plan on upgrading when you buy your new 3D equipment.

Best 3D Ready TV
Which is the best 3D ready TV, or 3D TV, for you depends on a few things. One is the amount of money you are looking to spend for the size of TV you are looking for. DLP and Laser TVs tend to be a little cheaper than some of the other technologies such as LCD, LED and Plasma TVs. However they are also thicker and heavier preventing them from being hung on a wall. Therefore if that is important to you, pick either a LCD, Plasma or LED TV. If you have a bright room you will be better off with LCD or LED since they provide a brighter picture. Plasma will work better in darker rooms since they will show deeper black colors than an LCD can. See 3D TVs for additional information on the top brands available.

3D TV Prices
Finding the best 3D TV prices is much easier than you think. Keep in mind that prices vary with technologies. As mentioned above, DLP and Laser TVs are generally a little less money for the size. However once you have some idea of what you are looking for, here are two web sites to look at that will almost certainly provide you with the best price. See 3D TV prices and Amazon. When comparing prices, remember to consider the all in cost. Meaning to include shipping, delivery and tax as well as the cost of the TV. Also look for packages that include a 3D Blu Ray player and 3D glasses or 3D glasses and a movie.
