42 Inch Plasma TV Wall Mount

42 Inch Plasma TV Wall Mount

Looking for a 42 inch Plasma TV wall mount? This is currently the most popular size of TV and the selection of mounts for this size is incredible. When looking to mount your TV, we recommend that you first choose the location where you want to mount your TV. For information on the proper height and seating distance, see home theater seating. Once you have chosen the location, next is to determine the mount type.

There are currently over 20 different types of TV mounts. Everything from simple wall mounts that just hold the TV on the wall, to fully automatic cantilever arm mounts that allow the television to tilt, rotate and extend all controlled from a remote control. Also available are non wall mounts such as pole mounts, ceiling mounts, etc. you get the idea. Two things to keep in mind when consider the different mounts. Generally the mounts that provide more functionality (rotate, extend, etc.) will cost more and require more space between the TV and the wall. Therefore if you are looking for a 42 inch plasma TV wall mount that holds the TV really close to the wall consider a wall mount or tilt mount. Most of the other types of mounts will require more space.

Determined which mount type you need and ready to make the purchase? We recommend either Mounts and More or Walmart Online.

Normally 1 inch is the minimum space between the TV and the wall unless you are using an in wall mount that requires cutting a hole in the wall. Reason for the minimum space is that the TVs generate a lot of heat and there needs to be some room for the heat to escape. Normally there are slots in back top and bottom of the TV. Cool air comes in the back and lower bottom, warms up while cooling the TV and goes out the top and upper back. Preventing this natural, although by design, air circulation could damage your TV. Therefore no matter which mounting choice you make, make sure that air is allowed to move around your TV to keep it running at the proper temperature.

Once you have the location selected and purchased the mount, the last step is to mount the TV. This is something that can be done yourself with a little patience and a helper to lift the TV on the mount. See how to wall mount a TV. If mounting the TV yourself is not something you are interested in, look into a home theater installer.
