Today’s Plasma Televisions offer outstanding pictures and features. Prices are dropping rapidly resulting in some excellent televisions at reasonable prices. We take a look at three of the best 50 Plasma televisions on the market. The TH-50PX60U Panasonic Plasma Television, PDP-5070HD Pioneer Plasma Television and the HP-S5053 50 Samsung Plasma Television.
TH-50PX60U Panasonic Plasma Television
The cheapest of the three televisions we are reviewing. This does not have all the features of the other TVs listed on this page such as split screen and picture-in-picture (PIP) capability but it produces an excellent picture.Note the difference between this television and the 600U is that it has most of the missing features. It accepts a cable card if your cable company supports that, has a VGA input for your computer, can display picture in picture (or split screen) from 2 sources. There is no difference in the picture quality; both will have the same great picture in the same resolution.

Includes several features that the Panasonic does not for about the same price. Excellent darks, but does not process non-HDTV signals well. Also has some of noise in various scenes. We believe the Pioneer and Panasonic televisions on this page produce a better picture.

PDP-5070HD Pioneer Plasma Television
In our opinion this is the best 50 inch plasma television available at this time. However it also cost about $1000 more then the other options on this page. If you really want the best picture available, this is the TV for you.Note this TV is also thicker then the other TVs on this page. It has a width of 4.5 inches which if hanging on a wall may be too much for some owners.
