Home Theater Speaker Stands

Finding the correct home theater speaker stands for your media room is relatively easy. First determine the speaker placement for your room considering the correct height and location for your seating arrangement.

Once you have made your speaker placement decisions, determine what size and shape stands are required. Some things to consider:

Height – Speaker stands come in adjustable or fixed. We recommend you look for telescopic stands that can be adjusted, as they will provide more flexibility in case you make a change to your media room in the future.

Weight limitations – Make sure the stands will support the weight of your speakers. Speakers are often heavier then expected.

Tabletop or floor standing – Depending on the desired location and the arrangement of your room you may need tabletop or floor standing speaker stands. If floor standing, keep in mind the base will most likely be bigger then the speaker, therefore make sure you have the space and that you can place the stand in an area where people will not trip on the base.

Mounting plate – Verify that your speakers will be mountable to the stands. Either by a mounting plate or some other means, as you do not want the speakers to vibrate causing unwanted noise or worse vibrate off the stands.

Wiring – Unless you have wireless speakers, consideration should be made on how wiring will be made to the stands. Some stands provide the ability to run the wire in the stands or better yet, provide wiring a connection and separate wiring in the stands.

Material type – Speaker stands can be made of wood, steel or plastic. We recommend either wood or steel, as the stand should be sturdy. Stained wood or textured powder coated steel are the most popular choices. Pick the correct material and look for your media room.
