The VESA TV Mount Standard
The VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) standard for mounting TVs is often referred to as VESA MIS (Mounting Interface Standard) or VESA Mount. This standard was first introduced in 1997 as a way to standardize the hole pattern layout for mounting displays, computer monitor or television, to mounts. The standard provides not only the hole pattern for the screws, but also the thread type and depth. Note that some new mounts meet multiple versions of the standard. Below is a table of the standard and some details on how to read it. Most of this is more than you need to know to find the correct mount for your new television. The easiest way to find the correct mount is to determine the standard your television requires and use the links above to find mounts that meet that standard. Note also that the standard is not just about the hole patterns for mounts. The standard also specifies the locations of cable exits.

The standard comes in two formats

VESA MIS-“L1”, “N1”, “L2” such as VESA MIS-D, 75, CIf L1 = B, C, D or E than use this format. If L1=D than a number will follow representing either 75 or 100 mm variant. For all parts with L1 equal to non F than the last letter represents interface location on the display. Top ( C), Bottom (B), Left (L), Right( R).

VESA MIS-“L1”, “N1”, “N2”, “N3” such as VESA MIS-F, 600, 200, 8In this case L1 will always equal F. N1 and N2 provide the maximum width and height of the mounting hole pattern. N3 provides the difference between mounting holes. A value of 6=10mm (M6) or 8=15mm (M8).

Below is a table of the various VESA formats:

MIS-D 7575 mm × 75 mm
MIS-D 100100 mm × 100 mm
MIS-E200 mm × 100 mm
MIS-F200 mm × 200 mm
400 mm × 400 mm
600 mm × 200 mm
600 mm × 400 mm
800 mm × 400 mm
280 mm x 150 mm
